Mountain Aire Old Time Music

Music from the 1800’s

Martyn Farm Fall Festival—Nov. 2007

We have been truly blessed with the ability to bring you this wonderful Old Time music featuring the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer. Our mission is to ensure that the Old Time and Traditional songs of the 1800’s keep their place in time and are not forgotten.

My wife and I started playing the Mountain Dulcimer early in the spring of 2004. The Dulcimer is a simple and easy instrument to learn and has provided us with many hours of musical enjoyment. We have since added several acoustic instruments to our repertoire such as Mandolin, Ukulele, Fiddle and Guitar.

We play Traditional and Old Time fiddle tunes, timeless Gospel and early Bluegrass songs that span more than a century of time. The songs that we share with you on this website have their roots deeply seeded in the Appalachian Mountains of the Eastern United States.

Some of the more famous song writers of the time include John Newton (Amazing Grace), Stephen Foster (Oh Susanna) and The Carter Family (Wildwood Flower).
